Welcome!
As a writer and artist with a day job, the Inspiration Station is my playground for sharing creative projects. For 2025, the agenda is to share 52 (now 53) spreads from Fifty-Fifty, a visual memoir I put together the year I turned 50.
In your weekly spread sent via email, you’ll get additional backstory, outtakes, and reflective questions that aren’t in the book. If you’re just joining, you can catch up on the archive here.
To make Fifty-Fifty, I reviewed photos, ephemera, journals, and memories to condense each year into two images and fifty-ish words about the year. I used Photoshop to create imaginative collages from photos, scans, and found images for years in which I lacked pictures.
My hope in sharing Fifty-Fifty is that anyone who is a journaler, scrapbooker, or likes to reflect will be inspired to look at their own life with fresh eyes. By following along, you’ll see the evolution of an unconventional life across more than 30 homes in six states.
May my life be an example, an inspiration, and entertainment for all.
