Hello friends,
Do you have days, weeks, months, or maybe even years where everything feels out of alignment? Perhaps you know something in your life is “off” and can’t articulate what it is—or you don’t want to admit you know what it is. Either way, your expectations don’t match what you’re experiencing in the world around you. My 20s were like that; I tried to force myself into a career that worked only sometimes. This week’s reading offers insight into how we can shift those funky areas.
The oblique Construction Zone flag hangs at a crooked angle from an old tree with a dead branch pointing diagonally at the sky. The flag wouldn’t stay put and nothing seemed right, leaving me with one reaction: laughter. Sometimes the perfect aligned shot isn’t possible, and that’s OK. I took the flag down and moved on to the next spot. Only later did I realize the resulting photo offered a bit of wisdom.
In the Day position, the Crooked Angles card is an invitation to look at what’s out of alignment. Perhaps you and another person aren’t communicating on the same wavelength. Perhaps you haven’t found the balance you need among your priorities. Perhaps you could accept that this is how things are, or perhaps it’s a construction zone that requires some work. Or perhaps you can laugh at the disjointedness of life and move on.
Humor helps! One day you might look back and notice what you learned from that awkward phase.
The It Takes All Kinds flag appears as a tiny bit of fabric against this massive grassy hillside. As the smallest flag of the 12 that appear in the deck, its placement here shows us that even small things can make a big difference—its many vibrant colors highlight the scale and natural colors of the land.
In the Night position following the Crooked Angles card, this card reminds us that Small Acts are one way to come back into alignment with ourselves, with others, with our projects, with the very shape of our lives. Small acts performed consistently accumulate over time and before we know it, we arrive somewhere new. Whether it’s meditation, a creative pursuit, managing your finances, or checking in on friend, just 5 or 10 minutes a day on what matters can bring your world into greater alignment.
May you be inspired to consistently perform small acts that bring your world into greater alignment.
Alignment with the True Self
An accumulation of all kinds of small acts resulted in the Flags in Mind show the Bay Model and the Flag Oracle deck you see now. Working on these projects brought me into greater alignment with my true Self; an inner flow state where doing and being became one.
By devoting time to what matters to me—creative self-expression—the rest of my life aligned itself almost magically.
Value begets more value: by prioritizing what we value, the universe conspires to give us more of it, and the crooked things naturally fall away. Some days I see clouds that look like angels and I know I’m in the right place. Switch the letters up, and angles turn into angels.
Have an aligned week!
Love, Lee Ann
The small flag in against the grassy hillside is a wonderful statement. I can sometimes feel that my actions (flag) are insignificant or futile. But they are not! These small acts of kindness or of blessings benefit us and others in so many ways. Have a lovely week and thanks for your kindness and blessing.
